Meet the Staff
Ivette Lopez Bledsoe, LCSW, EMDR II, BCB, BCN
I thoroughly enjoy my work! I am fascinated with the
uniqueness of people and other cultures. This curiosity
began at an early age. When I was in high school I applied
to go abroad to conduct development work and I was shocked
when they told me I was too young and needed a "useful" college
degree before applying. This lead me to obtain an undergraduate
degree in engineering and then after graduating I finally
I went abroad and worked as a health technician
in a remote area of Guatemala.
I returned from Guatemala with a desire to obtain advanced
clinical skills. So I attended the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill and obtained a Master of Social
Work degree. After graduating in 1993, I dedicated my career
to learning from and working with a wide variety of people
from all walks of life. This included working with
perinatal complications, rehabilitation services for
adolescents, prison health education, chronic illness,
and rural
health services.
Through personal and clinical experiences it became evident
to me that most individuals long to connect with themselves,
others,
and
their environment and it is a disconnection that often
brings suffering. This awareness led me to delve wholeheartedly
into mind/body studies and I developed a deeper understanding
how our habitual thoughts and behaviors can keep us stuck
in
a place of fear and suffering. Mind/body techniques such
as biofeedback, neurofeedback and EMDR can provide tools
to re-pattern old behaviors by transforming them into new
and healthier ways of being.
My interest in biofeedback and neurofeedback led me to
obtain dual certification by the Biofeedback Certification
International Alliance. I have obtained over 300
hours of advanced training in neurofeeback assessment and
treatment and have combined psychotherapy with biofeedback
since 2002 . My areas of specilization include
chronic illness, anxiety disorders and PTSD. I have made
extensive
effort to mentor with and continue learning
from
many of
the field's
top
experts
such as Richard Soutar Ph.D, John Demos LMFT, Thomas Brownback
Ph.D, Debbie Elliott, LPC, and Nancy Wigton, LPC. I am
a member in good standing with the International Society
of Neurofeedback
and Research (ISNR) and serve on the ISNR Research Foundation
Board.
I am very grateful for the experiences and people I have worked with and continue to work with. For it has been my clients, mentors, family and friends that have inspired me to deepen my knowledge and personal growth.
